Passivation is the process of chemically treating stainless steel to remove iron and other contaminants that can be embedded on the surface of the stainless stock, while forming a thin film which will enhance corrosion resistance. While this process will remove surface contamination, it will not significantly affect the stainless steel itself.
BGI can Passivate to ASTM A 967-05
Buffalo Gauge has the ability to clean and passivate your parts, equipment, fabrications or nearly anything you need treated.
Our ability and reputation for cleaning can now be extended to protection as well with our passivation process.
Buffalo Gauge chooses an environmentally friendly approach to passivation, using citric acid as our passivating agent. Citric acid is much less hazardous than nitric acid and can be easily disposed of with no threat to the environment.
